As the vessel of the Incarnation, the Virgin Mary bore the Son of God, Jesus Christ. Her "yes" to Archangel Gabriel's annunciation made salvation possible. She nurtured Jesus, witnessed His ministry, stood by Him during the Crucifixion, and was present at Pentecost. Tradition holds she was assumed into Heaven.
