As I consider writing grant applications, I often worry that my inflated lifestyle will be prohibitive to receiving the grants. I'm the sole bread winner and my family is not ready to live in less comfort. Sports, gym, private school, minivan payment, etc. all pile up and make a mountain of obligations that is daunting to consider.

Perhaps I have low self worth and the pay is comensurate with my talents but it's hard to articulate that to others. How do you convey value? How do you convey that most of your waking moments are spent thinking about toppling the time thieves so your children might live a freeer life than you did? What is a niche of a niche of a niche worth?

Your lifestyle should have zero bearing on what someone is willing to give you.

It should be only based of what value you produce/provide, and what people are willing to pay for that value.

Even the smallest niche will have a market if you offer something at a price someone is willing to pay for ; or if someone is offering a price high enough to entice you to produce it.

My lifestyle is more a question to myself. What have I been doing to inflate it such? Will someone else value my work enough to continue the lifestyle as is? I would never expect someone else to pay me based on lifestyles but if I am to explore other ways of providing for my family, I must consider our lifestyle and how it would be impacted.
