Crime in Ecuador was trending downward under President Rafael Correa.

Ecuador's current president, Daniel Noboa, is the son of the country's richest oligarch, a billionaire banana tycoon. Before him, Ecuador was run by the corrupt multimillionaire banker-oligarch Guillermo Lasso, a loyal ally of the US.

Violence skyrocketed under both Noboa and Lasso. US puppet governments and billionaire politicians create violence.
