The best way to opt out is to leave their territory.
Try to find an expat job in a different jurisdiction.
As I understand the American tax system, then your taxes to them drop significantly.

I've thought about that of course but to leave the country without leaving my wife, the country needs to become utterly unlivable first, otherwise she won't go.
So I'll revisit this option after the regime enters WW3, the capital got nuked, or shortly before all private property is being confiscated.
(We don't live in the US)
She might go if you can make the case that your life might be better elsewhere, especially if you have children.
Cost of living is useful in that.
You can compare here:

If you are not American, then living as an expat clears you of your current taxes.
Then find a job through expat websites, wherever you think you would be treated better and live for less.
This is actually the country cost of living comparator:
That's very nice of you but I've tried all of that, if she isn't around the family that she hates and not in the same country as the friends she meets once a year, life's apparently not worth living, and well worth paying 80% of our money to a government that does nothing but fund itself, foreign governments, and illegal immigrants 🤷♂️
Well, if you don't have any children, then the decision only you can make is clear.
Perhaps, that "a ship can't have two captains" was driven out of the family life in the "developed world" along with religion for exactly the reasons causing your predicament.
That's also a reason that it makes no rational sense for men to marry in the West, for example, and so many don't.
I guess, you are stuck where you are, and can be useful to other men as an example of what not to do. 🙁
I follow an amusing German bloke on the subject:
Well, getting women to work and placing children in the care of the state as early as possible has always been the socialists' plan, they advertise "empowerment" or some such nonsense but all these women are getting is serfdom. And corporatists love it too because a woman too stressed to be fertile works more and asks for raises less frequently because she wants to be loved and accepted.
And people gave the fucking gall to look at me funny when I say that life in the 60s was better for everyone, you know, when the average man was able to make a living for a family of 5 or more and if a woman wanted to work - which she was absolutely allowed to by law - then she could pretty much use all of that money for nice things like clothes, cars, holidays, and good schools (or be like my grandmother and feed a family of 6, working as a waitress while her useless husband worked part-time at some mostly unskilled job).
So people praise modern times when women spend all of their 20s at university, living off their parents' money, then make little to nothing themselves because employment doesn't secure a future or even a decent life in the moment, and then get on welfare when they're old, blaming men for them not getting enough state subsidies.
It's all a fucking joke but there seems to be no punchline in sight.
Another thought that came to mind is to pick up the sailing hobby by buying just a small boat at first - whatever you can afford.
Eventually, you will upgrade to an unlimited ocean boat, and can opt out for lengthy periods by circumnavigation and such.
If you are handy and like such chores, building one from a kit you can probably afford to do within a few years.
That's a good way to introduce other to opting out in an enjoyable way.
Can get into that with a project boat for the price of a good second hand car:
It just so happens that I do know a little bit about sailing, fantastic point indeed, good sir 😄
