Why is Hamas keeping hostages at all? What good is it doing? Wouldn't it do more good to get rid of them?

Nothing less than total annihilation of one side or the other will settle this now. This hostage game is short sighted. Israel's leaders see that.

One reason could be perhaps because Israel is keeping Palestinians including women and children hostage in prison for years and most of the world just didn't care.
