Your best friend does not use fountain pens, but has shown interest. You decide to give them a pen. Which pen would you pick? Would you gift one from your own collection or would you buy them a pen?

I would give that friend a Platinum Preppy. Since I don't have one, I will buy one.
Reason 1 - ease of use for the beginner - pop in cartridge and of you go.
Reason 2 - Inexpensive, nut excellent quality. No need to worry if lost or damaged.
Reason 3 - When that friends becomes more comfortable with using a fountain pen - upgrade to a converter and fill from the bottle.
Reason 4 - Step even further and eyedropper it for larger ink capacity.

I was thinking I might buy them a pilot kakuno.
