paid relay, extra service using current spam filters tech like deep learning, behaviour analysis … but the main reason is creating an account on nostr is too easy, just generateKey(). So maybe POW?

I think we will see reputation play a bigger role than spam detection

Potentially. That makes sense to me, but it would be tough to filter well meaning folk through it.
