Bots and auto-follows, #Nostr has a retention problem. There's only around 15k active daily users.

Got you. I was going through my follows yday and realised I have a lot of fake npubs pretending to be 'influencers'.

This made me curious. Right off the rip, I see these sorts

It's absolutely not ok, every thing I post is immediately picked up by these yoga spam bots.

Yoda spam bots I meant hahaha. ;)

Not yoga

Lol. All good, though I was wondering...

Yes i wonder this already longer time to almost all posts from everybody

Yoga bots stretch your patience.

In fairness, I don't trust it on any platform these days. Spam is out of control on most of them and paid subs has been a thing for years. I favor removing it from MY view. I get nothing from it and will never trust it anyway.

I'm also skeptical of claims regarding active users, but only because I don't fully understand the calculation one way or the other. I think it's possible to 'use' Nostr without necessarily being visibly active, unlike with centralized services where everything is easily traceable and centralized.

In addition to my engagement tests, I trust real interactions. That's enough metric for me.

That's where I am as well. It's what I come here for anyway.

Do you have any data to show 15k active daily users? I'm intrigued
