The most obvious is control of funding. A nostr based solution would be direct pay by something like a sat bank that flows to the artists you're listening to. I suspect artists have to negotiate amounts with Spotify and accept pretty much whatever they offer unless the artist is economically massive.
I'm talking out of my ass here partially. I have no idea how Spotify financials work. I'm just guessing.

I just wish we could create a Nostr app that's much more profitable for artists. Sigh
I'm not sure how that would work. It isn't easy to sell people on giving their work up for free with a hope that people will pay them. Especially for those dealing in large amounts. Indie would probably be the target. But I agree, it would be cool.
