"Sometimes the only way out of something is through." was the original sentence that inspired me to look into Caravaggio painting “The Calling of Saint Matthew,”
It's somewhat paradoxical that Caravaggio painted this because of the fact that he led an extremely "notorious public life."

The contrasts of light and dark in his paintings is very spot on to how he lived his life. Very much two extremes of each other.
