I’m not married, but if I was I’d get one of those silicone ones.
Playing guitar, I take mine off to record to avoid the tap tap tap on the neck. Even then, I rig something up to throw it around my neck.
Almost degloved my ring finger doing deadlifts. Wife bought me a five pack of break away silicone rings. Also a safer alternative when working with electricity, which I do often. I replaced this ring once in the last 5 years when the old one was ripped off doing something stupid. 
Oof. No bueno. I know a couple of guys who have silicone rings. I wouldn’t have known if they hadn’t told me. 👌🏻
