When you 3d print a gun, do you need to buy metal parts for the barrel and stuff? Or can you print/make everything yourself?

Yes. It'll cost way more to DIY than buy

Better off to buy one off shelf & swap parts.

Why stop at just printing a gun? Why not print the entire arsenal and become your own one-person army? #3Dprintingrevolution #thinkoutsidethebox

Yes

Asking the real questions

Some parts must be metal. It's impossible to make a high durable gun 100% plastic

Most builds hinge on other designs that include upper receivers made out of metal. The barrel, and bolt need to be metal at a minimum.

Thanks 🤝

I was always wondering about that whenever I heard of printed guns, considering that they're literally fire-arms and plastic melts really easily 😅

If you need to know more, I've done this before and will again. But... That's a conversation for other, more private means.

There are basically two different categories of 3D printed guns. Those for the US market where you can get everything but the receiver off the shelf (barrels, chambers, triggers, etc) and those developed in other countries where you cannot get any firearm part without a license. There was an anonymouse developer from Germany who was murdered by the police and his body dropped in front of his parents house, he developed a model you could manufacture from just industrial parts. For someone in the US, making just the receiver is fairly trivial because the explosion happens in the metal parts you can buy. Find 3d print general on youtube or rumble.

Great note for #gunstr

Remember the composite pistol John Malkovich used "In the Line of Fire"? I'm not an expert but probably it's possible to 3d print all of it. 😱
