Situational Awareness - Government Oversight: The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (CLAFD) announced a requirement (for what appears to be 175 stations) to fly the Progress Pride Flag (gay pride flag) along side or below the U.S. flag. It further dictates that in events where a second pole typically displays the State Flag but doesn't contain a separate clasp to display the pride flag below it; then the State flag should be removed and replaced with the pride flag. The order will take effect during the entirety of June. This is according to an internal email obtained.

Assessment: In March, CLAFD announced their intent (without giving details such as the rule to remove the state flag in many casss) to raise the "Progress Pride Flag at Los Angeles County facilities" as a means to signal the County’s "commitment to inclusion, fostering safe spaces, and embracing love in all our communities". CLAFD justified the raising as a means to counter "anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-trans bills being passed at an alarming rate across the country" and further described the meaning of the flag's chevron saying that "Black and brown represent LGBTQ+ people of color, while the light blue, pink, and white colors represent the trans community."
