If Saylor gets wiped out, MSTRs holdings will likely get more centralised under a new owner. Pomp doesn't have the influence or firepower to get people to adopt his vision, whatever that may be. Saylor has been shifting the narrative slowly over the years, and I think he is looking at it through a fiat lense rather than as a true bitcoin standard.

Ultimately it doesn't matter much, but I think it delays the possibility of greater self-custodied adoption as people bicker over SoV and MoE.
