Had a great sleepover with my daughter.

She amazes me every time I see her.

She’s having issues talking & the school gave her a iPad with this app to help her communicate.

Idk how long she’s been using it but she’s putting together like 4 word sentences with it already. (I wonder if her mother has been keeping it from me? She seems to think stuff is hers & not our daughter’s stuff? Gonna have to ask the gal & my lawyer about it. N e wayz)

I miss her as soon as I drop her off 😭 It’s literally the worst but just being able to see her is the best 🥹.

Awesome. How old is she? Did you do phonics when you were in school?

She’s 4 & a half. I did speech therapy for my lisp lol but that’s about it.

She was a micro preme so she’s a little behind so developmentally she’s about a 2yr old.

That's okay. I worked hard with my daughters with their pronunciation and speaking. You may already do this. Read tons of books to her and even if developmentally she's at 2 just have regular voiced conversations with her. She's going to be good with your help. I'll keep you in my prayers you seem like a good dad

I read tons of books with her she loves it.

I never talk to any child as a baby (gogo gaga voices this bothers me when ppl do it) I talk to all children as though they are little adults( if this makes sense?). Thank you.

I do my best at being the best father I can be in the moment & reflecting upon my time spent to approve my efforts.

Totally makes sense. We do the same and feel the same way. You are training a future adult. Being a father is tough man and I feel like there's no support for dads out there trying to do the right thing. If you need to vent reach out good sir. I saw a #plebdad tag need to see if there's an active dads group so we can help each other out

We picked up some phonics cards to work with letter recognition and understanding sounds that combinations make. Started when the girls were little and they are 7 and 4 now and both have benefited from the exposure. Or that's what I'm telling myself lol

I’ve been using those for about 6 months now. She can definitely read numbers & words & can speak numbers & some words, make small sentences but she does a lot of what I call mumble talking. She’ll start off talking good & run out of words & start mumbling. It’s getting better. She does know some sign language too so she does add in that sometimes & can be hard to catch.

I’m sure the work you’ve done with them has helped immensely.

I think any of the time we spend interacting with our kids helps. Keep your head up one day it's just going to click for her and then it's full send from that point on lol

Also, if you get the chance get the Strong Fathers Strong Daughters book. It's a great read and I'll revisit it as my daughters hit different stages. Just know you are extremely important in her life and she needs you to be strong and consistent for her. I'm sorry you have to go through that good sir, but keep your head up
