No, but for real and that culture expands through the world. Most countries are doing now: baby showers, weddings with 6+ bridesmades, crazy birthdays etc when a decade ago all that wasn't a thing.
It's the culture of cosumism, and the need of spending FIAT becouse it burns
Just going to any park in the US it's visible. The groups of people are surrounded by gear: 3 coolers, volleyball net, this thing you hit the ball to a jumping net, multiple chairs, even the dogs are all packed.
You go to a park in an European country for example and people are just hanging out with some drinks, and you can tell they are having a good time, nothing is needed besides good company.
