I have an electrum btc wallet and want to transfer some of the funds there to a lightning wallet like Alby, or vice versa, from Alby to my electrum wallet.

Ohhhh but you want a phone app wallet.. get Phoenix wallet a non custodial lightning network wallet right on your phone

I've already got a Alby wallet, and ZBD for my phone. I'm trying to get BTC out of my self custody Electrum wallet and into my Alby wallet. Would I need to transfer it from Electrum to Pheonix and then out to Alby?
