I don't speak Spanish

I studied Latin in high school

Also, I speak "scoshi" Japanese, from a lifetime of studying martial arts

Knowing a bit of Latin is useful to pick up Spanish. The language is Galician, though. Latin is equally useful 😉

Latin is more about learning to read root words. When listening to romance languages, I found it easier to pick out the separate words of Italian, where French is spoken in more of a sing-song fashion

Yes, exactly, that’s how Latin is useful. Syntax changed too much in Romance languages.

Space between words is also important!

Word choice also important, wouldn't want to start a war by accident

Hawaiian had that problem also: not enough words, multiple meanings, not hearing correctly!
