If you’re a non-technical person who wishes to start a project, and think you can convince a developer to work for free - don’t even bother.

You better have deep pockets and pay them or learn to code yourself. Or raise VC. Or just contribute to an open source project instead.

Even if they do decide to join you, it likely won’t last as they didn’t conceive the idea.

Not saying it never works, but having seen this up close over and over, it usually never does.
