I dunno man, they were able to obfuscate a lot of shit hauled on trucks prior to cameras being everywhere so that's just my guess, and not just the government. I've also heard loose 'tales' of what was actually going on with drugs, products, and anything else while on the open road. Driving around was a decision you made with your life back then lol.
