Why are people obsessed with criticizing insignificant details such as time, but cannot see the insane amount of wrong they themselves have done?

I feel like I'm getting lectured by the same people who are constantly proving how miserably bad they are. The same people who both demand and try to force respect are also working on proving they don't deserve any.
