Whats the midern equivalent to the window tax?

Reading about window tax that you still can see the repercussions of today. Even to the point builders install fake blocked upwindows in modern houses.
But this really caught my eye:

WTF happened!

Good question! It's appears to be income tax it's just they knew people wouldn't accept it so they taxed windows instead.
In the U.K they justified it's introduction to fund the war against Napoleon and in the U.S it was to fund the Civil war. Which is interesting because I am pretty sure both those wars had a pretty decisive end to them and yet we still seem to be paying it. 🤔
