Saw a post on the bird app criticizing people for having opinions about big age differences in relationships. I’m curious to know what other people think is an acceptable age range for dating?

Personally I never dated anyone younger than myself until this year, less than a 4 year difference. I’m primarily getting hit on by young ones these days. I’m talking like as big as an 18 year age difference. Which leaves me thinking sweet child you are lost. I don’t want to date anyone who hasn’t had a chance for their frontal lobe to fully form.

I totally lost respect for a man I had previously admired when I found out he would have dated me when I was 17. He’s 21 years older than me. Now I’m older I wouldn’t rule someone out for that age difference alone. Though we probably would just be in different life stages. I do try to keep it closer to my age than my parents age.

In my early 20s, I dated someone 9 yrs older than me, we were both in school kinda the same points in life. It was my only ending of a relationship. Looking back I was mature enough to see that I was not looking to settle down and she was, I didn't want to waste more of her time.

I think as people get older the age discrepancy is less an issue, however the 18-24is range there should be plenty of fish in the sea and 5 years can make a huge difference. As we age there is also less potential mates to choose from.

Still in high school? Maybe 1-3 year different at most.

Kudos to you. I’ve had men older than me waste my time because they wouldn’t admit or acknowledge that they wanted different things in life.
