a bitcoin ln node instance - can be hosted either by a third-party (= hosted) or by yourself (= self-hosted)
.. and then you also have self-hosted servers (e.g. start9) on top of all this
idk how to mentally frame all this lol - are these terms independent features, are they binary or do they exist on a scale, do they overlap and where exactly?

do you know any self-custodial for the computer?
https://getalby.com is a self-custodial wallet for the browser only if you connect to e.g. https://zeusln.app and you run your own lightning node OR you use and connect to a hosted lightning node of someone you trust
i dont think you can connect it to breez or phoenix
