There are two personality types here:

Strength is needed to change your opinion if hubris and dopamine rule your thoughts.

If, however, you are a personality types (like INTP) and a thoughtful person, finding the answer is a journey and hubris has no part to play in changing your view.

I suspect, Adam is the second type.
