I’m coming up on seven years in China. I arrived on 3/28/2018 in Guangzhou and, having spent the last five years studying Bitcoin and then Ethereum, I lead a small cryptocurrency exchange in Hong Kong with a team in Shenzhen. I have a lot of stories, but the main one is that it was impossible to get a bank account with any of the Hong Kong banks. We shut down the exchange and sold the tech. I was fortunate to find a job in HSBC leading cash equities technology in Guangzhou. Over the past six years I made my way to leading digital assets research with a focus on cryptocurrency. I hope one day to connect a bank to cryptocurrency but it is taking a different path than anticipated.

is that possible HSBC?
Stablecoins are invoking conversations in every global bank.
yeah i know many people doing biz for example in Cambodia are using USDT daily
Right. Many countries around the world have had an underground economy supported by US dollars. That will increasingly move to stablecoins. I’m fairly excited to see what happens with tether announcing they will do USDT on bitcoin lightning.
