ok so since you‘ve mentioned layers of meaning, in this case there is a denotation layer (men‘s desire for stripping formatting data to access raw key) and a connotation layer (the contrast between men wanting to do something that‘s meaningful to society or has historical impact while women‘s desires are domestic and, in this context, dumb or meaningless). in structural linguistics, this layer of meaning belongs to something called „signified“. my point being: you interchanging whatever male intention on top of the 2nd panel, does not remove the original layer that implies that women‘s desires are mundane and irrelevant compared to men‘s. and that‘s kind of a dickhead idea to reproduce.
