Apple Podcast kicking off Alex's Jones is one of the reason podcastindex.org was started.

All the other cool features of Podcasting 2.0 were just a happy accident b/c devs had a decades worth of ideas and features they wanted added to podcasting and finally had the opportunity to do so.
