How do people start/plan their gardens? Seems like an overwhelming number of options. I have a blank-canvas south-facing yard that's pretty large by city standards. Are y'all planning everything on paper? Using an app?

I have been guessing based on the path of the sun. With minimal success. 😂 But also the soil is terrible in certain areas due to the previous renters. Each year gets a bit better. So hoping this year I have more success.
In the past I haven't ever really planned my garden, mostly because it is so small. I'm going to use a digital service this year and try to be more effective in my growing. Happy gardening!
