First time running Umbel or any of these node os things in years and to my surprise while having a lot more apps and nice UI they are still lacking in the UX department.

One of the main use cases for bitcoin is to send and receive payments P2P so an easy to use node in a box at home seams like a no brainer.

But no you have to use tor to connect to the damn thing and clearnet is an afterthought.

How after all these years have nobody figured out how to do a clearnet node option plebs can easily connect to from their shopify and wordpress site without going through endless hops of different third party networking configuration nightmares?

I used to run a Lightning node on a Raspiblitz back in the day but now i use a VPS with phoenixd and LNBits for lightning, sparrow and bitcoind on my pc for onchain so i am fine, but i was curious to see how Umbrel and the likes was doing so i decided to test it out again and to my surprise the clearnet issue persists, WHY?๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Open the port on your router. Get a static domain within your router, and it works.

Issue is you always need an external domain (as your local IP changes after 24h normally) and a port open to the Internet for anything to access something in your home.

Yhea i know. That setup flow suck, is poorly explained and differs from home to home deoending on network setup and isp. I want a one click clearnet tunnel buit into the node os software ๐Ÿ˜‚

You could use tailscale and put your phone in the same VPN. Not ideal but a way around
