I read most of David Gemmell’s stuff (several mini-series). When I was a kid, I read a trilogy called Riddle of the Stars by Patricia McKillip. I read them to my daughters and they loved them. They also liked Susan Cooper’s The Dark is Rising series.

I came here to give you Sanderson until I finished reading your note. Curious what others say.
