i predict that in the next few years in linux distros there is going to be a movement towards simplification, and wayland and zfs are both the same kind of chimeric abomination and will not survive into the future, because of the sheer cost of maintaining them
bsd based unixes have failed to go anywhere since adopting this model of abolishing the separation between block and filesystem layers
linux systems that use wayland will also fail because X keeps that nice separation to the GUI library
it is only sad that during this time of abomination that so much work has not been done to improve X support of hardware but i'm NEVER ever going to do anything but use ext4 and X on my systems, period, end of story, game over, go fuck yourself
