Silly question. I have my bitcoin and lightning node installed. I moved sats to the onchain wallet of the lightning node. How do I move it to the lightning wallet or do I have to open a channel first?

Open a channel using those funds
lightning should manage that for you when opening and closing channels.
You can also swap with something like Boltz. Opening channels is the best way though 🐶🐾🫡
Your Lightning node uses your Bitcoin wallet balance on the node to fund new channels. Just open a new channel and it should work!
The channel is the bitcoin on Lightning. Just remember that once your channel is open, all the liquidity is on your side. You’ll be able to send but not receive yet. You need to either have someone open a channel to you or open a channel to someone like WoS, wait for it to drain, and then raise your fees.
Open the channel...you will then only be able to Send, but not Receive. You will have to find someone to open channel to your node in order to Receive. Check lightningnetwork.plus
