I’m facing issues with a number of #Nostr web apps in terms of logging in with mobile browser extension.

Nostr.band, listr.lol, zapddit.com to name a few. Im using Orion for iOS + #[2]

Most often apps aren’t able to realize that mobile extension is there.

I wonder if there’s any development that can be done to fix this. It seems like poor interoperability with mobile browsers and I’m sure that fixing this is not the most trivial thing. If it was, it would have been done months ago. Alby works great with desktop and I haven’t ever had any major issues.

Could we as a community get to the bottom of this and see how we can support the devs to make Nostr mobile experience silky smooth?

As I’ve highlighted in one of my guides, aimed to help the newcomers improve their experience with Nostr over mobile devices, most content today is consumed over the smartphones, so these issues can be mistaken for protocol flaws, rather than mobile browsers’ complexity.

Let’s make it easy for the newcomers to ditch traditional platforms and help #grownostr ! 🚀

Having the issue. Alby are aware of the issue.

I kinda expected they are aware, but wanted to highlight this for the broader community and maybe support the teams working on fixing this.

I’ll be happy to spare 100k sats to help tackle this problem, but as I know it’s not enough, was hoping to bring more people in.

Should we maybe create a bounty for this?

What do you think, #[4] ?

It was working fine until a few days ago. #[3] suspects an update in Orion, but I did not update mine. I

This is the main reason I don't use alby more, it doesn't seem to work on mobile with nostr

😱

Hi nostr:npub10awzknjg5r5lajnr53438ndcyjylgqsrnrtq5grs495v42qc6awsj45ys7

I spent some time to get to the bottom of this with whatever devices I could get my hands on (I could access one iPad so used it)

Orion has no support to show a developer console or anything like that in ipad. It doesn't have a windows or Linux version where I can debug also.

I tried using some extensions that I found that could double as dev console but they didn't work too.

This leaves me with no way to debug or even understand what's going on underneath.

I will sit on this issue for few more days and try debugging again in case I get some fresh ideas about what to do, with the current limitations.

Sorry I wasn't of much help here 😔

That’s unfortunate.

Thank you for your efforts as always!

Do you think if I reached out to them that could help?

Have you tried to use Nostore?

I’ve been using it for months and it’s been decent. Definitely not “Alby on desktop” easy but having done a lot of dev on mobile, it’s a hard problem. Especially on iOS, Apple locked down what browsers can do pretty tightly.

Yep, that is an option, but Safari breaks Habla News 😭

This is precisely the situation matching “we are too early” saying 😄

Found the Safari issue and sent a patch to ndk to fix it, hopefully it will be merged soon.

Legend

Merged! 🚢

I’m releasing a new version with this update in a moment

💜🙏thanks

NDK version 0.3.27 is live ✅

Totally. It’s early.

What’s broken about Habla? I just logged it and it seems fine.

If there’s a naddr in the link, the page goes blank for me.

Canonical URLs are fine though.
