Just got back from the grocery store and these prices are ripped. I go to the commissary because I can and the prices are less than local grocery and I about go into shock each time.

Whatever saves money, no shame

My grocery costs (including non-food staples like toilet paper) were mostly steady at about $350-400 a month prior to 2020.

Now it's in the $800 range. Some of that rise is insistence on quality eggs and meat, but still... it is shocking when I stop to look at the receipt.

Not sure where you’re based or if there’s Lidl where you’re at, but it’s been a game-changer for me.

Looks like an east coast chain, across the country from me 😕

Sounds a little bit like Aldi's or Trader Joes. I've basically split my grocery runs into 3 pieces to minimize costs at the expense of my time, and I do use Trader Joe's as such. Appreciate the suggestion though, maybe they'll branch out west eventually 🤙

It’s somewhere in between Aldi and Trader Joe’s so it sounds like you’ve got it covered 👍

luckily we have a small garden that we do all of our cooking herbs and some veg from and have chickens for the eggs, but man it sneaks up on you quick lol
