Uploading pics depends on the client AFAIK. On Damus, you can upload directly (it‘s uploaded to nostr.band in the background). If you‘d like to have a bit more control (including deleting media again), I recommend nostrcheck.me. Completely free as of now and worked flawlessly for me (touch wood).
