Where I work, sales means promising things, regardless of whether or not they can be delivered, for the sake of commission.

Marketing and sales, if it can be called good, must be motivated by a desire for the benefit of the other, not a fat bottom line. Greed is what gives the free market a bad name and why people thing communism can actually be an option.

In fact, monetization is only effective when you trade with fiat people because their high time preference doesn't give them the option to wait and buy cheaper in the future. Monetization is a fiat incentive and defies work ethic when it's actively sought

Always check what percentage of a companies budget is sales before doing business with them. If it is more than R&D, production, and operations... Stay away.

I walked away from a job offer because sales made 5x more than the engineers. The company is struggling now.
