Twitter’s always had lots of drama, but the last couple of days there’s been a back and forth between Dr Yoel Roth, ex head of twitter trust and safety, and Linda Yaccarino the new CEO of X ne twitter.

First off Yoel wrote an op-ed in the New York Times:

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/18/opinion/trump-elon-musk-twitter.html

It’s good, it talks about the way that targeted attacks and harassment are used to silence and limit speech.

Then a couple days ago Dr Roth and Yaccarino had back to back interviews at the code conference.

Linda’s Interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYymRU-bfpQ

Both are worth listening to if you want to understand the debates about where Twitter is today. There’s also a funny bit where Linda tries to reference X by showing her phone, but it doesn’t have x on it, only instagram, facebook, blind. The latter is a back channel gossip app for employees at companies.

Finally trump has a good excuse to fire Linda. Not just lack of twitter but also leaking secrets in Blind

You seem confused. Trump’s social media company is Truth Social, it’s CEO is Devin Nunes….. a politician who’s most famous for suing a satirical cow making fun of him on twitter.

Elon Musk owns X and hired Linda Yaccarino a CEO of the company formally known as Twitter. As far as I know Linda has never gotten a legal fight with any imaginary animals on social media.

I meant to say Elon, not trump haha

Why would Elon fire her? She’s going out there and having painfully hard conversations with the media that he doesn’t want to do. Also by all accounts she’s incredibly talented when it comes to working with advertisers, meaning she’s critical to X’s revenue.

😂
