Back to Footwear

Day 205 of rucking a mile or more a day.

Final day in my 7-day heavy cycle.

Footwear came front and center again today.

We started getting snow accumulation, and despite my route being along a road, it's not well plowed this yearly in the season. Icy/snowy/wet.

So I switched from shoes to boots. That don't fit me well.

The line between top and bottom (waterproof) cut deep into my ankle.

By my short halfway mark I was limping, then shuffling to change the rub point.

Socks, shoes, SOMETHING has to change for tomorrow. I don't want wet feet OR bloody ankles.

Good boots are a must if you ruck. I have no qualms about dropping $300 on a good pair of boots. I recommend Danner boots.

Thanks. 🙏

I'll definitely look into it.

I'm desperate enough to see if my old combat boots still fit as a stop-gap.

Ordered a pair of Merrell to see how they feel.

Had good luck with a summer pair about a decade ago. Good toe box for me.

Will upgrade from there. Danner on my shortlist.

Thanks again.
