To put this in perspective, my Jade is mining at around 81K hashes per second.

A single S19 #Bitcoin miner mines at around 110 TRILLION hashes per second.

So, yes, the odds are long. Still better than playing the lottery, because you get a chance every 10 minutes, and because even if you never get a block reward, you are helping the network

Also, how does jade verify accuracy of the payments? Does it use an initial block download?

Ah okay. Can you still see the blocktemplate and to which address the btc will be send?

You input the BTC address just before you start mining. It can be any address, doesn’t have to be one on the Jade you’re using. No visibility to the blocktemplate by default
