I helped my neighbor out for a few hours yesterday. She started a small nursery last year and needed some help.

For payment I got a 10kg bag of organic fertilizer and boot 50 black currant cuttings.

More importantly I got information on how to propogate correctly. This included soaking the cuttings in a hydrogen peroxide bath and waxing the tips before planting.

do u have to dip in some sort of root starter?

I have an old bottle. How well it works? No idea

I just stick them in pots and that has always worked for me, no disease issues.

The difference between you and me is that you know what you're doing.

That is not true. I just use the theory of overproduction. šŸ¤

I just prune then I ram the cuttings in the ground they always seem to root.. that going to finding a pot thing smacks of effort šŸ˜†

If anything I think the peroxide would be more detrimental to them rooting than helping your going to be oxidising a load of microbes out of existence including the good ones. Its a bit like when people used to sterilise the soil years ago to remove pathogens they kill all the good guys and the bad guys usually end up establishing themselves faster.

Dunking them in some EM, or even just yeast and labs would be better. Or just push them into well cared for soil.

The only reason for pots is I’m not sure where I want to put them. Gives me time dream up new gardens. šŸ˜†

Thank you for the info
