Learning about the foamy weird stuff on the lavender and rosemary

'Cuckoo spit is a white frothy liquid secreted by the nymphs of a sap-sucking true bugs known as a froghoppers. They are also known as spittlebugs. It appears in spring at a time when the familiar call of cuckoos can be heard, but has no connection with the bird.'

Site claims they are mostly non-harmful but they seem to cause deformation and stunt growth. 🤔

I get them on my rosemary.

Do you do anything about them? 🤔

Squirt the spittle and bugs with a hose, kinda high pressure to clean off the mess. Bugs usually are intact, but I make life hell for them.

They definitely do affect the growth tho, despite what this article says.

It's annoying cos rosemary doesn't really like too much watering

Mostly squirting the individual branches/new growth where they are found. And they do suck from the plant and deform new growth.

Yes they do. It's like a scittlebug wrote the article 😤
