-THE ISLAND LIFE-

The world's oldest cello, known as The King, was created in the 16th century by Andrea Amati, a renowned luthier from Cremona, Italy. Originally designed as a decorative bass for the court of Charles IX of France, it was later modified to the standard size of a modern cello, allowing for its preservation.

It is currently on display at the National Music Museum in South Dakota, where it is valued for both its exquisite Renaissance ornamentation and its historical significance in the evolution of the cello.
