We went from millions to billions to trillions without much fuss.
Mainly because most don't comprehend:
One million seconds is ~11.5 days
One billion seconds is ~31 years
One trillion seconds is ~31,000 years
For most the time sample makes the vast difference better understandable.
These steps are huge, their difference in impact is HUGE.
