Do you gain any privacy if you purchase Bitcoin from cash app, then swap it into liquid L BTC. Then collect a bigger amount, then move it from liquid to your cold storage?

Yes, but not from government, they know your stack due to KYC on cashapp. But when you spend those coins, nobody knows where they come from.

You also do yourself the benefit of the government not being able to come to you with a list of your exact UTXOs that they intend to tax or confiscate
