How many computer languages does the average dev know? Every time I look at a project on GitHub there's >5 languages in a project.

At least a dozen, since a lot of them share roots and semantics! πΆπΎπ«‘
Once you know one language you kinda know them all. Being actually performant in a language takes lots of time and understanding but normally within an hour you figure out basics to get going.

Usually 2 or 3 of those languages are build or utility scripts that were copy pasted in and maybe had some minimal tweaks.
