I unexpectedly lost 30 lbs on carnivore in a couple months. Ever since then, I can't stop (re)reading about the human metabolism. This just happened to coincide with a couple anthropological books I've been reading and somehow it all fell into place.
People need to realize doctors don't know anything about nutrition. That's the uncomfortable truth, I can vouch for it. We are taught to prescribe metformin for diabetes, and even though lifestyle adjustment is recommended as an adjunct, nobody actually knows what that means. The term 'balanced diet' gets thrown around because it's been marketed (who doesn't like balance? come on). Oh, and if you have 100 extra pounds, you can exercise, right?
