I'm beginning to appreciate Phoenix more since the splicing update now, as well as the ability to purchase inbound liquidity. Receive more inbound capacity than you would be comfortable keeping on LN.

Maybe you aim for 500k-1M sat utxo, but only stack 20k sats at a time. You could purchase 2 million sats inbound liquidity, stack gradually to your comfort zone, splice out.

I initially didn't like the higher fees or that the channel shrunk with every splice out. But for ease of use for someone either unwilling or incapable of running a full LN node, at least just yet, it's still slick AF. Especially if you couple it with other options like Mutiny, Zeus, Breez or even custodial accounts like Alby for simple Nostr use.

Please explain the inbound liquidity thingy, I always wondered what that button does..... Ejection perhaps?

Several months ago I paid like 20k sats for 2M more inbound on my initial channel I had. I thought it was going to be a waste and regretted it but, after some use, and not using it as a constant zapping tiny amounts wallet but as a general hub to my others, Ive come to appreciate it.

So I just fill it partially until I'm comfortable for a utxo, splice out and be done with it. Until I need more liquidity I guess, but if you plan ahead and get more inbound than you generally would need, it does make it easy.

Getting over the channel shrinkage at splice out at first though 😂

You can also stack hard and use a swap service like boltz.exchange to move those sats on-chain without reducing your channel capacity! If you pick a low-fee day, it’s inexpensive and it saves you the future cost of buying more inbound capacity or another on-chain fee on a future splice-in 🫡

💯💯☝️

I was doing this initially to keep the channel size large, but if I'm not comfortable even keeping that amount on LN I got over it and accepted that on occasion, it's okay to splice out

Also 💯 can't forget about boltz as an option
