Nice! so you'll basically have sod around them instead of just loose soil?
I posted a bit ago about how I planted apple trees with baptisia in the same hole (for nitrogen fixing), but it hadn't occurred to me to extend the principle to cuttings/ ground cover.
The rye grass will die in the summer here, but just to keep the roots together when I transplant. Seems better than nothing.
Oh, i need to try something like this.
