Where are the notes actually stored? 🤔 Relays only propagate the notes right?Notes aren't stored on Relays or are they?
Although i've been here a little while now, this thought only came up in a conversation the other day and we didn't find the answer 😅
Relay is like a database for the notes, but it doesn’t have to be. Basic relay that you come across on nostr is storing notes, only some propagate or rebroadcast them. 🐶🐾🫡
Ok! Thanks for clearing that up! That's how i thought it was from the beginning. But when I was challenged i wasn't sure enough to defend it 😅
They are stored on relays, where else would they be? Although there is no guarantee for how long any relay stores your notes.

No problem! Note that anyone can run a relay if they want (permissionless protocol). You could run your personal relay for storing your own notes, and maybe those of your friends/follows.
That much I am aware of 👌🏼 it's on my to do list this year to become a noderunner 😎 just debating whether to buy a pre-made solution like umbrel or to build my own system... I think self built will be more fun and educational
